Kevin & Karen McLaughlin
Kevin was first inspired to write songs when he was 12, after being introduced to the music of Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel by his older sister. He became proficient at singing lead and harmony vocals, playing drums, piano, and bass guitar. He has performed and recorded his original music and also played in numerous bands for 35 years.
Karen began to sing in the church choir at age 9. She also wrote poetry at a young age and later wrote songs. She specializes in singing harmony and sings lead on her own songs in addition to playing hand percussion.
Kevin and Karen met in Portland, Oregon in 1990. They sang together on the first night they dated – he picked up his acoustic guitar, and she picked out a harmony and joined in. They’ve been in harmony since 1991, and have performed as an acoustic duo, lead a four piece original band and performed in a cover band over the past 15 years.
